Disability Support Worker (Weekend Social Support)

The Junction Works is a not for profit, community-based organisation serving Sydney’s south-west since 1987. With its mission of ‘creating new possibilities in people’s lives’, The Junction Works focuses on delivering creative and enriching community, youth, children’s and disability services that are designed to improve the lives of some of the community’s most vulnerable people.

The Junction Works’ provides a range of services such as day programs for adults, after school and vacation care for children along with a range of weekend and respite services. These services are run across more than 20 locations in South West Sydney, primarily through the Fairfield, Liverpool and Campbelltown LGA's.

The Role

With the continued growth across our Weekend Social Support, The Junction Works now has multiple opportunities for dedicated and experienced Support Workers to join the team. You will provide a positive, strengths based and person centered service to enable individuals with disabilities to reach their own potential and become integrated into their community.  

More specifically, some of your key duties will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Contribute to the daily operation of services that provide life skills development, social inclusion and vocational opportunities for people with a disability 
  • Ensure participants continue learning and participate in meaningful leisure, recreational, social and cultural activities 
  • Build effective and respectful relationships with participants, families and community members involved in disability programs
  • Implement and record progress of innovative programs to meet individual participants goals in conjunction with their National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) plan 

Please Note: A current First Aid Certificate, current NSW Drivers Licence, current NSW Working with Children Check, and current NDIS Worker Screening Check are all required prior to commencing employment.

Our ideal candidate will have

  • An open and creative mindset to the position - new and innovative ideas are a must
  • Strong organisational skills and a collaborative team based approach 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with a wide variety of stakeholders (internal and external)
  • Emotional intelligence, resilience and drive, with the capability of working in isolation
  • A qualification in disability / community services or extensive relevant experience
  • Minimum of 1 year experience working within a disability program environment
